How to Fix Common Image Issues in WordPress

James Fawcett

Adding images to your WordPress blog is a great way of transforming your site into something that is aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, WordPress issues are quite common, and it can be hard to figure out what you need to do to get past these problems. In this blog, we are going to take you through how you can fix some common WordPress issues.

Fixing Post Thumbnails or Featured Images That Are Missing

If you have tried to add a featured image to your blog, you might have realised that you have managed to lose your thumbnails. To prevent this from happening, you should first choose the ‘screen options’ button which is located on the right side of your screen at the top. From here, you can choose ‘set featured image’ which will let you post your thumbnail. You should then see your thumbnail which will appear in the ‘featured image’ meta box.

Fixing Duplicate Images

For those who are struggling with WordPress issues, you’ve probably seen your photos appear twice in the one post in the past. To prevent this, you should avoid inserting your featured image into the post editor alongside your content. This will make your photo appear twice, so make sure to only use it for the featured image section.

Fixing Images That Are Too Large

If you like to take images for your blog from your camera or your mobile phone, you will probably find that often these images are too big when they are uploaded. The good news is that WordPress has some photo editing tools that you can use to crop your photo as well as make them the right size that you need. If you want to find these features, you’ll need to go to ‘media’ and then ‘add new’. Once you’ve uploaded your image, you can click on the ‘edit media’ button followed by the ‘edit image’ button which will take you to the WordPress editor for images. From here, the features are pretty easy to use, and you can make your images fit properly.

Organising Photos Into Columns And Rows

The final common WordPress issue that we are going to help you with in this blog is how to organise your photos into columns and rows. You’ll probably want to organise your photos in this form to avoid adding photos one by one in your post. To create an image gallery, you’ll need to follow this step when you are editing a post or the page that you are working on. By choosing the media uploader, you can select ‘create gallery’ and then ‘add new gallery’. This will be found on the right-hand corner of the media uploader tool. From there, you can see the gallery setting and choose how you want your gallery to be displayed. To finish it off, you’ll need to select ‘insert gallery’ and you can enjoy an organised image gallery.
