9 Efficiency Tips to Keep Your Business Ahead of the Competition

To really stay ahead of your competitors, you need to be running a tight ship. Efficiency should be high in your business to ensure that you are getting the most bang for your buck.

Here are nine tips to keep your company efficient.

  1. Keep information flowing.

Employees need to be kept up to date about what is happening in the company and on the wider markets. This keeps your business agile.

  1. Anytime, Anywhere.

Make sure that employees have access to smartphones so they can be involved by only being a phone call or a click away.

  1. Delegate.

Make sure that everyone has enough to do and that the right person is doing the right job. Don’t try spinning all the plates yourself.

  1. No unnecessary meetings.

While a daily catch up can be a great way to ensuring that everyone is one the same page, you don’t need to attend each and every subcommittee meeting. Use your time wisely.

  1. Use lists.

A list can be a great way to make sure that you are getting everything done. Track them using a tool like Google Tasks which syncs with your Gmail and Calendar as it can help you to know what needs doing and when.

  1. Take a break.

Working hard is a great way to be efficient, but not if you are doing at the expense of your own mental health. Take a break every hour or two. Get away from the desk, stretch your legs and have a cup of tea (Yorkshire Tea, obviously).

  1. Ignore distractions.

You don’t need to be on Facebook or Twitter right now. Turn your mobile data network off on your phone so that you can receive phone calls but aren’t tempted to update your status to ‘bored at work LOL’.

  1. Prepare for tomorrow.

Make sure you know what you are doing tomorrow. Get your clothes ready the night before, have your coffee pot ready to go at the click of a button. Mornings are hard enough without having to faff. Have a schedule for the day and make sure you stick to it.

  1. Improve Employee Happiness.

If your workers are happy, they’ll work harder. Make sure that they know that they are appreciated. Happy employees make for a happy boss.
